Frequently Asked Questions

Is Async Academy an Ontario-accredited private high school?

Yes. We are an inspected private high school approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education. We follow the Ontario curriculum, and you can verify our status by searching for "Asynchronous Academy" on the Ministry's private schools list.

Are credits from Async Academy accepted by universities and colleges?

Absolutely. The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits you earn with us are fully recognized by all Ontario post-secondary institutions, just like credits from any other inspected public or private school.

How long does a course take?

It's entirely up to you! Our courses are fully flexible. Motivated students can complete a course in as little as four weeks, or you can take up to 12 months. You set the pace that works best for your schedule and learning style.

Can I start a course at any time?

Yes. We offer continuous enrollment, meaning there are no fixed semesters. You can start your learning journey whenever you're ready.

Can a student transfer mid-year from another school?

Yes, we regularly assist with mid-year transfers. Our team will help evaluate existing credits to ensure a smooth transition so students can continue toward graduation without losing any progress.

What does asynchronous learning look like?

Asynchronous means there are no live, scheduled classes. You work independently through structured modules, projects, and assignments on your own time. You submit your work online and receive personalized feedback from Ontario-certified teachers.

Who is Async Academy best suited for?

We are a great fit for independent learners, self-motivated students, athletes, creatives, or anyone who needs flexibility and feels constrained by a traditional, rigid classroom environment.

Will I get support from real teachers?

Yes. Every course is overseen and assessed by an Ontario-certified teacher (OCT). They are there to provide feedback, guidance, and academic support throughout your entire course.

How are assignments graded?

You submit all assignments online. These can range from written work and projects to videos and reflections. Our assessments focus on your process, critical thinking, and demonstrated understanding of the material.

Can athletes earn Physical Education credits through their sport?

Yes! Our Physical Education courses allow students to earn credit by documenting their approved athletic training or competitions (like hockey, dance, martial arts, etc.) using videos and activity logs.

How does Async Academy handle AI?

We view AI as a powerful learning tool, not a shortcut. We teach students how to analyze, critique, and responsibly collaborate with AI. This helps develop the critical thinking, research, and communication skills necessary for the modern world.

How do parents stay informed?

Parents are kept in the loop through regular communication, progress updates, and direct contact with teachers or staff whenever needed.

What grades do you offer?

We currently offer Ontario high school courses for Grades 9 through 12.

How does the pricing and payment model work?

Async Academy uses a flexible, pay-as-you-go model. You can access all course materials for free. An annual $50 registration fee unlocks our learning apps, allowing you to try courses up to the end of the first unit. As you progress, you purchase $50 Assessment Credits for each unit (most courses have 4 units + 1 exam, totaling 5 credits) to have your work assessed by an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).

How much does a full course cost?

With our pay-as-you-go model, a typical first course costs $300 in total. This includes the $50 annual registration fee (which allows you to register for up to 3 courses per year) and 5 Assessment Credits at $50 each (one for each of the 4 units, plus the final exam). Since your registration covers the year, your second and third credits are as little as $250 each!

Are there any refunds available?

Because our platform operates on a pay-as-you-go system, we do not offer refunds. You only pay for Assessment Credits when you are ready to submit your work for grading, giving you complete control over your spending. We also offer a 3-day risk-free trial so you can experience our learning style before making any payments.

Is tutoring or one-on-one help available?

Yes! If you need direct instruction, you can optionally purchase "Teacher Time" credits for $50 each. This allows you to book a 25-minute 1-on-1 video conference with an Ontario Certified Teacher to review complex concepts or ask specific questions.

How do we get started or ask more questions?

You can contact us anytime! We're happy to answer questions, discuss your specific situation, and help you decide if Async Academy is the right fit before you enroll.
